Today was a beautiful, sunny day in Eyjafjörður! The weather was very calm in the morning, with the wind picking up a bit throughout the day.
We spotted two Minke Whales between the green buoy and Hjalteyri and shared some nice and close encounters with them before sailing further to spot one Humpback Whale a bit north of Hjalteyri.
This Humpback appeared to be feeding, mostly coming up for one breath, lifting the fluke right away for a short deep dive before repeating the same behavior again! During our encounter with this Humpback Whale, it stayed in the same area, but moved all around our RIB boat, surfacing several times on all sides of the boat! Super exciting and very close - this was a really amazing encounter!
In the afternoon, we had a Minke Whale already outside Krossanes, which was less then 10 minutes into our tour. When we went further north the swell and wind pick up, and a heavy curtain of fog reached us by Hjalteyri but it did not stop nature from putting on a show for us. We had another Minke Whale, Northern Gannets plunge diving as well as a Humpback Whale lunge feeding as well as rolling around showing us it’s fin. Not even the weather could stop this tour from being a real success.
