Dear July, please stay like this! Beautiful sunny day in the fjord and the tour belongs to Minke whales! We’ve been seeing Minke whales on all our tours this summer and this time we found at least 2, maybe even 3 individuals just before Hjalteyri area. At first we noticed lots of birdlife in action so we decided to slow down and take a look if maybe birds are following something bigger in the water and we were right! We found a Minke whale and had 2 very nice close encounters with him. While waiting for him to show up again we spotted another one and potentially the third one but they were moving around a lot and it was hard to judge but we knew there were 3 individuals in the fjord recently so it is very likely these are the same whales. At some point we decided to leave them and head out north to look for something else, we passed some harbour porpoises and few puffins but the sea was getting choppy and we weren’t able to spot more whales. On the way back we stopped at Hjalteyri and hot waterfall.
