Today we had a cold and rainy morning in Akureyri. We started the tour on time and it turned out the weather further out in the fjord is actually much better, no rain, no wind and good visibility. We found 3 Humpback whales and 1 Minke whale! The Minke is probably the same individual as we’ve been seeing in the past weeks but it seems he moved towards north, we foud him just above Hjalteyri. They all were going for rather long dives and we had to wait 8-12 minutes for them to come back. We first stayed with two of them, both whales we’ve been seeing lately together and decided to name them Ronja & Rosa. On our way back we spotted another whale, a new one! this one seemed to be quite curious of us but also about Ronja, at some point it looked like the whales are coming towards each other so we stayed a bit longer to take a better look. Through out the whole tour we’ve been able to see plenty of harbour porpoises.
