Good evening, we had another day with fantastic weather! We had smooth sailing conditions and a clear sky with great visibility.
This morning we sailed out and soon spotted the first whales just north of the green buoy. We were greeted by three Humpback Whales swimming together! It was a beautiful and up close first encounter of the day and we saw more and more Humpback Whales all around the area. We counted a total of at least 15 Humpback Whales on each of our tours today. They kept resurfacing around our boats and we were super lucky with the stunning encounters that we had!
Our afternoon tour was equally great, we again encountered plenty of Humpback Whales in the area between the green buoy and Hjalteyri. The encounters were incredible and it was difficult to decide where to look at times. We spotted several pairs and small groups of up to three Humpbacks swimming together at a time, which is always special to witness. On this tour, we saw several Harbor Porpoises as well.
In the morning, we also spotted two Minke Whales and in the afternoon we encountered one Minke Whale on our way back towards Akureyri.
What a successful and sunny day in Eyjafjörður!
