Hello there! Today we were greeted by the snow in the mountain tops and with rain in the morning over Eyjafjörður. It was a bit windy throughout the day, so there was some swell in the fjord.
On our morning tour we encountered one Humpback Whale south of Hauganes. In the afternoon, we didn’t have to go out as far and were surprised by three Humpback Whales just outside of Hjalteyri! They were slowly swimming a bit further north, but kept resurfacing around our boat. At first, we encountered Aretha Frankfin, the same whale we saw on our morning tour, which was soon joined by another Humpback Whale, that didn’t show us the fluke, and they were swimming together always surfacing at the same time! One more whale, Ískona, was seen close by and eventually they switched places. So in the end of our encounter Ískona was seen swimming together with the lazy fluker while Aretha Frankfin was a bit further north by itself. It was very interesting to see the dynamics between these three Humpback Whales and we had a very close and beautiful encounter with them!
