Good evening, today we had slightly more wind in Eyjafjörður and a cloudy sky. But that didn’t keep us from seeing plenty of Humpback Whales!
On another amazing tour, we encountered at least 15 to 20 Humpback Whales in the area north of the green buoy. We were immediately greeted by eight Humpbacks surfacing at the same time. We spotted more and more whales in the area around us, some of them were further away, others surfaced close to our boat Holmasól. We saw more blows further north and just as we decided to sail out a bit further, we saw a BREACH north of Hjalteyri! This was followed by four more breaches in the same spot!!! WOW! These Humpback Whales definitely put on a little show for us today, it was a super exciting tour. On the way back to Akureyri, we spotted more Humpbacks and got to see some of them up close again.
This was just another great day on the water for us and there are many Humpback Whales in Eyjafjörður!
