Hey there! For the lucky ones joining us today we had the opportunity of having pretty nice species show! We started our tour from Akureyri on our vessel Hólmasol with a very nice windless day in Eyjafjördur. The sightings started with the emblematic eider duck surrounding us in the harbour and some northern fulmars following us along the way. But soon after we were surprised by the presence of a quite sneaky minke whale. After seeing the minke a couple of times we decided to venture further out into the fjord where we had some cute harbour porpoises surfacing around the boat. After this really nice encounter, we kept on sailing smoothly across the shiny, calm waters of the fjord. when our whale watching friends from Hauganes told us the had spotted a humpback whale and we left the porpoises to try and spot the Humpback whale. and there it was just nest to Hjalteyri town. A small humpback whale was gently surfacing next to Hjalteyri and we were able to enjoy its sight for a long while. And not only the passengers were excited but also the whole crew because it was such an amazing encounter! No doubt worth seeing. and the cherry on top was when some harbour porpoises also joined the humpy show. But that was not all because just going back to the harbour we also had the opportunity to see the great Northern Gannets, flying around the boat and plunge-diving to feed, what is always a very impressive sight!
