Good afternoon nature lovers! Today we sailed out into Eyjafjörður on a cloudy afternoon. But still, you could feel the Icelandic summer around since it was barely cold, and the water was shiny and flat, perfect conditions for spotting (without the bother of the sun glare). We got to enjoy the magnificence of the Northern Gannets, in a big group of 10 individuals before we spotted a Humpback whale just opposite of Hjalteyri. As we sailed up north looking for more wild life we encountered a small group of Harbour porpoises but different to past days very elusive and swimming away from Hólmosol when we were just next to Hauganes, for that reason we decided to slowly start going back and to try and spot again the humpback whales which we did! And OMG what an encounter, the whale was popping all around the front of the boat and very gently. It was indeed a sight to see. Oh my, we can say today was a whale of a day!
