Good afternoon readers! So today we had a WHALE OF A DAY!! We started our trip through the shiny clear waters of Eyjafjördur and not long after departure (only 30 min) we find ourselves surrounded by three different Humpback whales It was the most amazing thing! To avoid disturbing the whales when other whale watching boats approached we kept sailing out the fjord in search of different species. And only a few meters away we encountered a Minke whale, but because it was a pretty sneaky minor, after seeing it surface 5 times we turned around to slowly hear back to Akureyri. When we arrived to the spot where we left the humpbacks, there they where and again. So for the second time, we were able to enjoy their magnificence, surfacing very calmly and showing us the fluke. Finally, we started heading back we had a quick encounter with some travelling Harbour porpoises who we waved at in our way back home. Ending this very successful tour with the cherry on top.
