Hello all! Today was just utterly fantastic in Eyjafjörður. Magical, I would even dare to say. Though we had completely contrasting weather between the morning tours and the afternoon one, we came home to Akureyri in absolute awe. In the early morning hours, it was warm and we had perfect spotting conditions. No other boats in sight for the most part, only us and the whales. Across Víkurskarð, with waterfalls dressing the background, we stood still watching the fluke show, as four different humpback whales appeared to be feeding. Nonetheless, the real treat came by during the 13:00 tour, under rainy skies. Sirena, our latest arrival in the fjord, kept approaching Hólmosol time and time again, spreading her wings wide to both sides, standing still while harbour porpoises kept circling around. It then moved on flipper slapping, head standing and inverted lobtailing! It was absolutely mesmerizing. There is simply no other way to put it, and we can’t wait to get back out there tomorrow.
