Hello all! It has been ridiculously busy up here in Eyjafjörður, as more and more humpback whales just keep on arriving almost every day. As for us, we're just trying to keep up the pace and get everything in order, as we start to transition to the busiest months of the season. So far, we have twelve different humpback whales in the fjord - how amazing is that? Specially for the new guides, it has been mind blowing to meet them all, and realizing that some of them have actually were also spotted here last may (2021). We are learning to distinguish them all through their fluke patterns with the help of our senior guides. We have the feeling that we are the newborns just arriving into one big, tight human/whale family. It feels so good! Anyway, this misty morning we had good sailing conditions and were lucky to have had some surreal close encounters with four different humpback whales. And, even though the wind started blowing harder and the waves stood in our way, we still kept going strong and sailed out there to find our kins. Snædís, Left Hook, Amigo and a our newest arrival (still yet to be named) appeared to be so calm and curious about our presence. We spotted them all in quite close proximity, between Svalbarðseyri and Hjalteyri. We are getting so used to having them close by!
