Hello all! In this early morning, the clouds came crawling down the mountains to meet us. It seemed as if it was going to be a cloudy, rainy day. However, the sun rose high in the sky gracing us with its warmth, and even though we faced some northern swell and freezing winds during our tours, spotting whales was quite easy. Just before Hjalteyri, a huge splash kept popping up in our horizon time and time again - a breaching humpback whale! We rushed to get the front row seats to the show, as this particular individual kept half breaching and flipper slapping like a gracious (nonetheless huge!) ballerina. Later in the day we found this whale again - now lobtailling - closer to us and then further at a distance, while the other two buddies were busy feeding. Overall, we spent a lovely day surrounded by three different humpbacks. This is a whale of life!
