Whale hello there! Very interesting Friday in Eyjafjörður… We started the day from Akureyri harbour, not the best summer day since we didn’t had the chance to see the sun but very flat calm sea and not cold despite the clouds. And not that far away just next to Hjalteyri we had our first sighting! A pretty sneaky Minke whale, so we decided to keep sailing on because it was a bit tricky to spot and only a few minuts after ANOTHER Minke whale, so we ended up with not one but two minkes! But since we heard some rumors about something bigger we kept sailing out and in the way we found a small pod of very funny Harbour porpoises (2-4) but we didn’t stop for them and so a little further out we found 2 Humpback whales just SE of Hrísey island and OMG! one of them is a new whale on the fjord that we hand never seen in the past how amusing is that!!! Actually this new whale with the under fluke completely black, was being quite shy at the beginning and not showing much fluke, but in the end it BREACHED jus next to us and it was pretty amazing!!!
