If there’s one thing we’d like you’ll likely never forget about Iceland its the speed with which the weather changes. An extremely rough north wind had lead to spate of cancellations for all whale watchers in north Iceland. Following the forecast we believed it would change today. Initially we were met by dismay our two 0900 Classic tours faced battering waves, saw some rare birds (a large flock of adult and juvenile Óðinshani (red necked phalarope) beginning their migration to Peru) but sadly no cetaceans. We were overjoyed therefore to watch the seas calm and the wind dye down allowing our 1700, 1945 and 2030 Classic to sail out peacefully with all tours observing stunning Humpbacks (two at 1700 and four at 1945/2030) aswell as getting a sneak peak at tricksy Minke Whale.
