What another amazing day full of wildlife in Eyafjorður. In the morning tour we started with 2 different species in the harbour area, long-finned pilot whales and Northern bottlenose whales, sadly not everyone on board was able to spot the norhtern bottlenose whales as they were on the surface for just few seconds and then they went for a long dive, but however, the pilot whales were around for longer so everyone could enjoy them. After being for a while with them we continued sailing north in calm sea conditions and sunny weather, when a shy minke whale popped up, we tried to have a closer look of the whale but it chose to hold its breath for very long time and go away, so, we kept sailing. When we reached south Hrisey, we spotted our fourth species of the day, 2 humpback whales swimming quite close to each other. On the way back to Akureyri, the pilot whales decided to leave the harbour area and we were able to spot them one more time. In the afternoon tour, we saw a minke whale, but again a bit far from us but close enough to be seen by everyone. Later on we spotted again two humpback whales but this time between the towns of Hjalteyri and Hauganes, this time they did not swim in sync so when one of them was diving the other one was on the surface, so luckily we didn't have to wait long to see the whales.
