Today, we sailed out in calm and sunny conditions, the wind picked up in the afternoon, but overall we still had good conditions.
On our tours, we briefly spotted a Minke Whale as well as Harbor Porpoises on the way and as we sailed north of Grenivík, we encountered plenty of Humpback Whales!
This day was purely incredible! We counted at least 20 different Humpback Whales in the area and had countless of encounters with them! We never had to wait for a long time before one of them resurfaced. Some of them surfaced right next to our boats and at times it was even difficult to decide where to look, simply because there were whales in all directions! It was stunning.
A few of these Humpback Whales were swimming individually, while others teamed up and swam in groups of up to four whales, some of which even went for synchronized deep dives, lifting their flukes high out of the water.
We could not get enough today and are extremely excited to sail out again tomorrow!
