What a day! The First Humpback whale of summer season 2023 appeared today on our afternoon tour not far from Hjalteyri! This morning we weren’t as lucky, we sailed out under a rainy sky - most of our passengers decided to wear an overall and it was probably a good decision as most of us got wet not only due to rain but also splashes from the ocean. In the afternoon we recieved a call from a local person that there was a whale on very shallow waters so we rushed there to see what’s there. It turned out to be a Humpback whale! The conditions were very challenging to spot him but we had few good encounters and our rib boat was even lucky to have the diving whale just meters away! We can’t wait to go out there again!
