Hello everyone,

today we went to look for whales with beautiful sunny weather. Shortly before Hjalteyri we saw a minke whale that surfaced near the ship. However, we did not stay with it for long, but we went to look for a bigger whale. And we found quite a few humpback whales near Hrisey. One even came to take a closer look at us. Our guests had the opportunity to see the huge pectoral fins, which were visible even when they were under the surface. Humpback whales have white pectoral fins that turn turquoise under the surface. The Humpback whale was so close to us, that we had the possibility to see also tubercles - hair follicles that humpback whales have on their heads. Yes, even whales have hair that they use as whiskers.

On our afternoon tour, we saw various behavior of humpback whales. One whale rested close to the surface for a few minutes and the other gave us a proper show. It jumped near the ship twice. The guests had the opportunity to see the humpback whale in all its beauty. What a wonderful day. We are already looking forward to what we will see tomorrow.
