Its been over 24 hours that we have been out in Eyjafjordur. Rough weather has contained the guides to other duties on land but all itching for the sea. today that itch was scratched and the rough storms we’ve had meant we were welcomed with a a full fjord show.
We didn’t even have to go far just out the harbour south of Hjalteyri we meet a cheeky porpoise , full flocks of Atlantic Puffin (the furthest south I’ve ever seen them) and two Humpbacks feeding giving us show of full rostrum. Upon spotting a blow further north we headed there, and still having not passed the old fish factory, we sat and observed a humpback who surfaced and fluked in such regular 3 minute patterns he must have a built in swiss watch !! On the way home we stopped to observe a final Humpback who with him brought a Minke to complete a triad of cetaceans spotted today.
