Good afternoon!
We sailed out this morning with overall good conditions, but did have some more challenging weather conditions throughout the day here in our fjord.
One of our highlights of the day were definitely the whales we encountered this morning! We sailed out past Hrólfssker, which is where we spotted the first blows! There were plenty of Humpback Whales as well as White-beaked Dolphins. The dolphins were jumping and we could observe the Humpbacks bubble net feeding! This is extremely rare here and the Humpback Whales resurfaced frequently around our RIB boat as they were feeding.
Just as we were heading back to Akureyri, we spotted a breach west of Hrísey! We stopped again and watched in awe as one Humpback Whale was continuously breaching, tail slapping and pec slapping!
This was a super exciting encounter!
