Hello again, after more than one month of hibernation, I have returned to watch some whales. And how nice that was! Literally 2 min from the dock, we encountered the 2 Humpback Whales we’ve been around for the last week or more. These two must love to hang around in Akureyri. Straight up they came towards us and said hi. Then we easily followed them around, saw a bit of lunge feeding and nice blows. They didn’t dive for very long.
Other than the two Humpbacks, we also encountered a rather tricky whale to identify. We are not sure what species it is, because its dorsal fin and body colour look like a small Sei Whale, but the head was rather round and there was only one blowhole which indicates this would be a toothed and not baleen whale.
Gonna have to do some research on that and hopefully see this guy again to get a better look at it.
