Today, we had mostly good weather conditions with little wind and later on small waves in Eyjafjörður.
We encountered the two Humpback Whales just north of Akureyri. They were between the small boat harbor and the fishing harbor, frequently surfacing as well as feeding.
We had great encounters and got to watch the Humpbacks up-close. One time, they came up to breathe, heading towards us and went to dive right under our boat before they resurfaced on our other side, lifting the fluke to indicate their deep dives! How lucky are we to see this?
We sailed out in order to search a further area and spotted the same Humpback Whales again on our way back to the harbor. We spent more time with them, witnessing these beautiful whales and watching them surface numerous times before arriving back in Akureyri.
It was a great day in our fjord!
