Low clouds crawling over the mountain peaks surrounding us, leaving blue skies over the fjord. Temperatures are brisk. The morning was calm, but in the afternoon, the wind picked up. It has also started to rain a little, but that is not a thing whales would care about.
We have had a fruitful morning with many whales around us, a good number of Harbour porpoises feeding in two different locations followed by dozens if not hundreds of birds. In the North-east of Green Buoy, there were also 3 Minke Whales and just a bit further North we were looking at 3 Humpback Whales. Our Rib boat even saw a breach, but from far away. Many close encounters here in Eyjafjörður so far.
In the afternoon, the Rib had to sail a little further to find the Whales. We encountered 6 Humpback Whales on the east side of Hrisey. The spotting conditions were very challenging due to rain and low clouds, but our experienced team still managed to find them and we had super relaxed whales coming very close.
