Morning was at first glassy, with cloudy sky. The wind picked up dramatically very quickly into the journey. We went from no waves into a rather wet ride.
We encountered a Minke Whale just next to Svalbarðseyri. Here we were able to watch with our engine off in the flat sea. Upon deciding to go further, the wind started picking up and quickly the sea state went from a 1 to a 5 very quickly. We stopped around Strytan as here there were approximately 5 Humpback Whales. We managed to see the whales several times, however, we were greatly disadvantages by the spray of the waves as distinguishing between this and the blow for our passengers was challenging. Despite the great Minke encounter and several Humpback sightings we decided to give complimentary tickets to our guests in the hope they can have a more rounded tour with us in the future.
We decided not to sail for the rest of the day as the wind picked up more into the afternoon.
