The wind today had flipped to the South compared to yesterdays North, however, it was no less strong. We experienced strong gusts from behind and at times quite large white capped waves. This did fluctuate greatly though as the sea state dropped to a mild 2/3 at points before picking back up again. We also experienced light rain and low cloud.
Our sightings today were in the area around Strytan, similar to yesterday. Here were several Humpback Whales and a Minke Whale. The Humpbacks were all showing travelling behaviours, not displaying the tail with long inter-breath intervals. It was tricky to keep track of their locations with the sea sate, but despite this, we had several really good encounters and viewings of the tail. The surprise Minke was a short encounter but sweet with everyone seeing the shallow back and dorsal fin of the whale just in front of us.
