Today there was minimal wind from any given direction, but a moderate swell coming in from the North. The visibility was hampered slightly by low cloud and occasional spells of snowing. Due to cold negative temperatures small patches of ice also started to appear.
Our first encounters were with 2 Minke Whales, quite close to Akureyri, one South of Svalbarðseyri and the second being just North of the town. Further North we encountered 3 Humpback Whales close to the West coast half way between Hjalteyri and the Green buoy. Swimming in a pair was ‘Aretha Frankfin’ and the large whale found in the same place yesterday. We had some great encounters here.
On the afternoon tour, we encountered the very same Whales plus one more in pretty much the same area as well. Again great and super close encounters.
