Icy morning with a glassy fjord, it is damn cold today but apart from that, visually very entertaining to just be on the water. The landscapes along with our whales are looking exceptionally beautiful today.
We met a hungry pod of Harbour Porpoises feeding not far North of Svalbarðseyri, some of them were just 2 meters from the boat, a very rare encounter with a rather shy species. After that, we went on to find more cetaceans. We didn’t need to go a long way, just past the Green Buoy, north of it to be exact, there were 2 Humpback Whales. We watched them for some time and then took a shot to see what was going on further in the fjord by Rauðavík/Hauganes. There were 4 Humpback Whales, two further in the distance and two just around that area.
