Very good, calm weather conditions in our fjord today!
The first animal we spotted today was a seal resting on top of some ice as we sailed out.
Further out, just north of Hjalteyri, we saw four Humpback Whales. Three of them were swimming together, one was swimming by itself close by.
We had plenty of beautiful encounters, with some standing out. At one point, the three Humpbacks approached our boat, our engines were turned off as they came right towards us, going for their deep dives by our side! Stunning. This encounter simply left us speechless.
On the way back, we spotted one more Humpback Whale, Piccolo, just by Hjalteyri. After this brief surprise encounter, we continued sailing back to Akureyri.
In total, we saw five Humpbacks on today’s tour with many incredible encounters.
