Another beautiful day in the fjord today! We sailed out from Akureyri in the perfect sea conditions. This morning we spotted 2 Humpback Whales in Pollurinn - our harbour! We could watch the whales right from our office before the tour even started. It was a bit cloudy but the sky cleared up around the town through the day and only further out in the fjord the density of the clouds hit us on the way and we could clearly see how quickly the weather changed. the sea conditions further out were slightly more challenging as the northern wind was coming into the fjord but it didn’t stop us from spending some great quality time with Honza - one of the Humpback whales from the harbour, The whale was very relaxed and frequently surfacing, we even had a few very close encounters when he popped up right next to our boat! We continued to look for the other whale but we did not find it on this tour, instead we got to spot some interesting birdlife such as Guillemots and Razorbills hanging out together around the fjord. Before coming back to the harbour we did one more stop by the hot waterfall and everyone enjoyed hot chocolate on the way back. We simply can+t wait to go out there tomorrow!
