Today we had a light South Easterly wind creating small surface waves, a small smell around hjalteyri and clear blue skies.
In total today we saw 1 Minke Whale and 4 Humpback Whales spread around the area of Hjalteyri and towards the East side. There was a mixture of behaviours on display including surface feeding, deep diving, traveling and sleeping. During the afternoon was when we observed the majority of surface feeding as we observed frequent surface straining and full open mouth lunges from the whales. a note to mention on this is that despite all of the whales displaying the same behaviours of surface feeding at the same time, none of this was done i a cooperative manor and all whales were at a distance from each other.
