Hello there friends of whales.
Today was rather special as we had an incredibly beautiful morning. The weather forecast looked promising, partly cloudy with little breeze, temperature-wise very nice day. We sailed out in the direction of Hjalteyri, as we knew that the day before there was something to see.
As we were getting close, the number of whales was shocking. There were Humpback whales just everywhere. Three, four, five together. We have seen them surface feeding in pairs, one was tail-throwing later in the afternoon, and even though we have not managed to get the count correctly, there were more than 10 Humpback whales at a certain point. Some of them were as close as they could get, one could nearly raise a hand and pet it. The afternoon when the tide went down and the sea currents shuffled the situation a little, but that did not stop us from having a good time, we spotted plenty of Harbour porpoises, a Minke whale very close to the western shore close to Hjalteyri and then also two more Humpback whales.
This was a day to remember.
