Hello,
our morning today was blessed with mirror-like conditions, definitely a good day to spot some cetaceans.
We stumbled upon our first Humpback Whale not very far away from Akureyri close to Gásir. Spend a little time with this good-looking Humpback and rolled on to some more action in the distance. A bunch of fountains of air coming up very frequently kept us very cheerful. We did not hesitate and went straight in that direction. 4 Humpback Whales having the best time of their life in a feeding frenzy all around us just North of Svalbarðseyri. Little get-together breakfast time.
One Humpback Whale decided to “peekaboo” at us and spooked some of our passengers, few lucky ones even got sprayed in the front of the boat with its powerful breath. All of this was upgraded by Gulli, our wonderful captain, as he shut the engines in the middle of the feeding frenzy and we were just floating. We could all locate the whales by hearing all their blows in complete silence. Pure serenity, everyone was completely caught up in the moment. We later on also spotted some Harbour Porpoises in the distance. On the way back we spotted one more Humpback Whale surprisingly close to the hot waterfall. When we arrived back people were leaving with hearty smiles on their faces, that kept us ready for the next adventure.
In the afternoon, we were experiencing a little breeze coming from the North, with the knowledge of the last position of these feeding whales we were hopeful to see it again. We were on the lookout for the whales that we have spotted before on our journey back to the harbour, but this time we did not see it. Our route was pretty much the same as in the morning, Went by the first Humpback Whale at Gásir and then sailed on to the party. Once again such a crazy show, one of those beautiful creatures was so incredibly curious, that it came just right next to the boat. What a day!

They say good times are so hard to find. Well, we found them today.
