We departed on a very grey and cold morning, looks like winter is coming… With a choppy sea, we sailed out from Akureyri into our beautiful fjord.

We all know whales don´t mind the weather, and they demonstrated this by putting up a fluke show for us today. We saw 3 Humpback Whales and all of them were incredibly close to Akureyri.

When Humpback whales join us here in the fjord during the summer, it is their main feeding season, so despite them being solitary, we can see how they will just follow their hungry bellies. Lately in the fjord, we have had a great number of sand eels, so these Humpbacks have been feasting.

Our first sighting was a beautiful Humpback Whale just by Svalbarðseyri. Followed by the 2nd, Piccolo by Dagverðareyri; and the 3rd the lovely Disy, just North of Svalbarðseyri. All of them are our very lovely guests, the Humpback Whales.
