The conditions were perfect from Akureyri to Hjalteyri but a slight South East wind was creating some small waves further than this, around Grenivik, in the morning.

There were many whales in the fjord today. Several Minke Whales around the Green Buoy and Rauðavik. But, the main attraction being the many Humpback Whales from Höfði to N Grenivik. Somewhere in the region of 15 individuals were seen with Gills, Max & Iskona being three whales easily identifiable offhand, however, many of the others were looking familiar. We had some great encounters at a range of distances, but, the best part being in the afternoon, with virtually no background noise, being able to hear all of the whales around us with the furthest being around 1 kilometer away! That’s actually crazy and really demonstrated the power of the lungs these whales possess.
