A Magical Encounter

We sailed out from Akureyri on a calm day, with the waves picking up first near Hjalteyri. The gentle rocking of the boat only added to the excitement as we headed towards the northern waters off Hrisey. The air was filled with anticipation, and little did we know, we were about to witness something incredible.

We spotted four magnificent humpback whales, and the joy on everyone’s faces was unmistakable. The whales seemed to sense our admiration and swam closer to the boat, showing off their beauty in a breathtaking display. It felt like a shared moment of wonder between humans and nature, as if the whales were excited to be seen. They gracefully breached the surface, tail fins flashing as they swam around us, giving us a glimpse into their peaceful world.

The emotional impact was evident in the guests’ eyes, some even shedding a tear. It wasn’t just the sight of the whales, but the deep connection to nature that made this experience unforgettable. Everyone on board shared the same sense of awe, caught up in the magic of the moment.
