Piccolo's Journey Continues
Today we sailed out with temperatures hovering around 3°C and a gentle breeze coming from the south. As always, the crisp air and stunning surroundings made for a peaceful outing, but there was something even more special about today. Like so many times before, we were lucky enough to spot our dear friend, Piccolo, a humpback whale, right from the office window as we set out. It’s a sign that we know exactly where we’re headed: the Pollurinn harbor.
Piccolo seemed especially hungry today, surfacing often to catch a breath before diving back down. It was a beautiful sight—watching this magnificent creature glide through the water, so close to us yet still so wild and free. After spending so many days with Piccolo, it’s hard not to develop a personal connection. There’s something about its presence that feels so familiar now, almost like seeing an old friend each day.
I know the day will come when Piccolo will move on to new feeding grounds. As much as I’ll miss these encounters, I hope it finds safety and sustenance wherever it goes. For now, I’m cherishing every moment spent in its company, hoping for another glimpse tomorrow.
Life on the water is never predictable, but days like today remind me how lucky we are to share this space with such an incredible creature.
