We had fantastic weather for whale watching today. Lots of sunshine and calm weather. We usually don’t experience those conditions too often during this time of the year.
We started our trip from the fishing harbour again and sailed with the light wind coming from the south, which made staying outside really very nice. After just a short time, just south of Svalbardseyri, we spotted a Humpback Whale rolling on its side, most likely surface feeding. We could see one whole pectoral fin and half the fluke come out of the water. After that encounter the Whale has been very close around us until we went for a short scenic drive after an hour watching the whale.
It was likely Piccolo but I can not confirm for sure.
On our way back we made sure everyone gets a little sun tan and we even saw 2 Harbour Porpoises pop up.
