We overall had good weather conditions today with a bit of wind and smaller waves in the fjord.
Again, we were fortunate enough to spot Piccolo the Humpback Whale in Pollurinn, our harbor of Akureyri.
It was moving around quite a bit, surfacing very frequently for one or two breaths before arching its back and occasionally lifting the fluke all the way above the surface in order to go for a deep dive. Showing this behavior can be an indicator of a feeding whale, which was confirmed as we saw lunge feeding again! The Humpback came to the surface with its mouth open, obviously feeding during this incredibly quick movement above the surface.
We hope that Piccolo stays close by for a bit longer, as we are always super excited top spot this whale!
Further north, we also saw a pod of Harbor Porpoises. What a nice day!
