We set sail on a slightly cloudy sky, with the sun peaking through them. The temperature was +1°C, which created a great crisp weather to sail on. The sea at the harbour was calm, but we got to enjoy some waves as we set our course toward the north.

Our direction was a success! As we got to Northeast of Hrisey we found a Humpback whale. As we had gotten to the area the clouds had lessened and the sun was peeking out more. That is how we got to see the breath of the whale so brightly and as we got closer to it we got to enjoy the whales magnificent body glistening in the sunlight.

The whale was very kind to as, as it stayed under the surface only a few minutes at the time. Enough to start searching the next place it would come back to show itself. On a few occasions we were very lucky as it wanted to come and say hello close to us! A few times it stayed hovering near the surface, making it possible for us to follow the pectoral fins that coloured the sea on top of them turquoise.

Eyjafjörður treated us well today. We also got to enjoy some light fog around the mountains, making the surrounding area around us look even more beautiful. It was just the cherry on the top of the cake to give this tour it’s magical extra flavour. No matter how many times we set sail here, this fjord keeps giving us new things to appreciate. The scenery around is always the perfect backdrop for our majestic whales which treat us well whenever we encounter them.
